Deneysel Alzheimer ilacı bilişsel gerilemeyi yüzde 27 yavaşlattı

Lecanemab isimli ilacın üçüncü aşama klinik denemelerinde, Alzheimer hastalığının neden olduğu beyin tahribatını yavaşlattığı belirlendi.

CNN'nin haberine göre, ABD merkezli Biogen ve Japon Eisai ilaç şirketleri, halk arasında "bunama" olarak da bilinen Alzheimer hastalığının önlenebilmesi için "Lecanemab" adlı bir ilaç geliştirdi.

Bilim insanları, faz-3 klinik denemesinde ilacın, 18 aylık bir süre içinde Alzheimer hastalarında zihinsel becerilerdeki zayıflamayı yüzde 27 yavaşlattığını tespit etti.

Söz konusu ilacın, Alzheimer hastalığının ilk evrelerinde kullanımında etkili olduğu belirtilirken, Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK) yardım kuruluşu, çalışmanın sonucunu "çok önemli" şeklinde nitelendirdi.

Bilim insanları, bilişsel zayıflamayı yavaşlatmayı başaran bu ilk ilacın, Alzheimer tedavisinde bir dönüm noktası olabileceğini kaydetti.

Uzmanlar, ilk deneysel Alzheimer ilaçlarından biri olduğu olan Lecanemab'ın, Alzheimer hastalığında etkinliğini ve güvenliğini belirlemek için daha uzun süre denemeler yapılması gerektiğini aktardı.

Deneysel ilacın üçüncü aşama klinik çalışmasının sonuçları, "New England of Journal of Medicine" dergisinde yayınladı.

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) verilerine göre, dünya genelinde Alzheimer ile yaşayan 55 milyonu aşkın kişi bulunuyor ve rahatsızlığın teşhisi için hastanın birçok tarama ve testten geçmesi gerekiyor.
